Lyrics:
I thought about you
I thought about the ones that i forget
Oh please forgive me
I hope that I've not pushed you to the edge
Let me wash away the painful words i wrote
We can smother out the flames within my soul
No more standing by the way that I believe
We can smother out the flames
With gasoline
You break around me
You say that i should give my heart a rest
(Pre-chorus)
(Chorus)
We'll watch these flames
Like a tower of dissent, choking out regret
Devouring light
An image of my soul, out of our control
(Pre-chorus)
(Chorus)
Review:
Gasoline is a great song for lovers of Christian metal. Also, if you are a fan of melancholic vocals, you are in luck. Gasoline is a perfect combination of both. The hauntingly beautiful sound of the clean vocals sends shivers down your spine, while the chorus gets you pumped. Not only does the sound make it a good song, but the meaningful lyrics do as well. I give this song a 5 out of 5 stars.
Meaning:
This song is a sarcastic, blunt way of sticking up to your faith and beliefs. In the song, Ryan (the vocalist) sarcastically says that he's sorry that his beliefs offends others. He says sarcastically that he'll get rid of his beliefs just for them. He ingeniously uses gasoline as a metaphor for extending faith instead of getting rid of it.
